A Family Tradition
The history of Stewart's Meats
Emmett Stewart began his family owned business during the 1929 Depression. He maintained a tradition of quality meats at good prices, plus a commitment to customer service. It was not unusual to see Emmett driving down the country roads making deliveries in his old model T pick-up.
In 2009, Stewart's lost Emmett's daughter, Dorothy, at the age of 95. It was with Dorothy's guidance and daily help that Stewart's has thrived over the years. She is missed--and remembered.
Dorothy, began her career in the market in 1933, and was widely recognized as an expert on specialty sausages. Stewart's still uses Dorothy's old time secret family recipes. Dorothy's son Butch and his wife Jeanne--the third generation, and now there are 4 generations actively involved in Stewart's Meat Market. It was Dorothy's dream to have her family carry on the Stewart family tradition, and today her dream is a reality.
